ASSIGNMENT: APA format
From the beginnings of photography, the portrait as subject has captured the hearts and the cameras of professionals and amateurs alike. The photographic portrait, as “real” as it may seem, is the product of human labor framed by technical and aesthetic decisions and situated in a cultural and historical context. Study the images of one popular figure from the past or present that has been well photographed in the media. Compare and contrast formal and informal portraits. How do the portraits convey different impressions? In what way does the photographer enhance the character portrait? Where do the photographs appear, and to what target audience? Do the portraits reflect a specific cultural or historical period? Which picture do you think mirrors the “real” person? Why? In your essay . . . include specific examples, references to the text material, and additional resources as necessary.
