Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome was a disease that appeared in China around 2002. It reached pandemic levels and the lessons learned from SARS could be used to treat the Corona virus that has appeared just recently. The first lesson is the admission of the scope and scale of the pandemic (WHO.int, 2003). China is infamous for being opaque when it comes to giving out the numbers when it comes to dealing with disease outbreaks. With the scale and scope of the outbreak being known the world can then form a timely response and meet the challenge before it gets out of hand.
