MEMORANDUM
DATE:March15, 2020
TO:Padgett-Beale CISO
FROM:Kerry Lane
SUBJECT:Travel Request for CypherCon 5.0
Purpose/Justification of Travel:
The topics of CypherCon include hacking information security, cryptography, and other security-oriented topics that I feel would beextremely beneficial for me to learn and apply in my current workenvironment. Since I have recently transitioned to a new contract thatfocuses on translating technical procedures and verbiage into policies, Ibelieve that this would be a great chance for me to experience thetechnical side of cybersecurity and be hands-on. By understanding howoffensive cybersecurity works, I can understand how securityvulnerabilities are exploited and what exactly is necessary to preventattacks from affecting information systems and their components. Thereare several villages that offer different technical projects, challenges, and competitions that attendees can participate in. Since Iam a hands-on learner, I would highly appreciate the opportunity toattend the CypherCon 5.0 in Wisconsin on May 2nd and May 3rd. Below is the link for the upcoming conference.
