California College San Diego Changing the Legal System Discussion

Extra Credit AssignmentYou may submit a paper for extra-credit. This assignment is not required, but is optional.
Requirements:
1) The paper MUST be a minimum of 5 full pages, in order for you to receive credit. You will
receive no credit for a paper with fewer than 5 full pages. Papers may be longer than 5 pages.
They can be as long as 10 pages.
2) Papers may be written in 12-point Times New Roman font only. You will receive no credit
for papers written in other fonts.
3) Papers must be doubled-spaced. Each page must have 1 inch margins on all sides.
4) Papers are due by 11:59PM on the due date listed in the course calendar.
Topics: You must write your paper on ONE of the following topics:
1) Discuss how you would change our legal system to make it fairer, more just, and accessible to
everyone. You must identify the problems that exist in our legal system and describe what you
would do, if you had the power, means, and authority, to change it for the better. If you rely on
any sources for information, you must cite them, including all websites, articles, books, etc.
2) Discuss a U.S. Supreme Court case that changed American jurisprudence. Discuss the case
and how it changed jurisprudence. If you rely on any sources for information, those sources must
be cited, including all websites, articles, books, etc.
3) Discuss the type of business that you would start, if you had the chance. Include a discussion
of the legal issues that your business would encounter, and how you would expect to deal with
those issues. Note: in order to receive credit for this topic, your paper needs to include a
description of your business AND it must discuss the legal issues you might encounter.
THE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT IS WORTH 30 POINTS.
