Validity, Reliability & Interviews
Assignment:
Question One:
You impressed Mariah the General Manager of GWC Company, with your thoughts around
Employer Branding. She wants to interview you for a Talent Acquisition role! She has two
questions.
“You’ve told me about the need to have reliability & validity in our selection process; what are
two main benefits of having a reliable and valid selection process?”
“Tell me two things we should do to ensure our selection practices are reliable and/or valid.”
(any combination of 2 best practices for either reliability and/or validity).”
Refer to the topics discussed so far from weeks one to six … there’s no need to define/explain
reliability and validity as general concepts, Mariah learned them in previous college courses
and from her colleagues in HR at other companies. But note: you are responding to a business
leader, not an academic or a statistician.
Question Two:
The Interview is one of the most important steps of the selection process and serves a
multitude of purposes.
We’ve discussed how important the Interview part of the Selection process is – including
behaviours, content and planning; From our class discussion, outline two personal areas of
improvement/ change on which you can focus – explain a) why you chose these two specific to
you and describe a SMART* action for each to make you a better interviewer right away.
Summarize these actions where each is SMART *(S=specific, M=measurable, A=achievable,
R=realistic, T=time oriented)?
Instructions:
Write in sentences and paragraphs (no bullet points or numbered lists), maximum 2 pages
double-spaced (for both questions), using Calibri 12 pt font and 1-inch margins. Points will be
