In last week’s discussion, you introduced your classmates to the company that you will use for your business consulting plan. This week you will continue to gather data on the company.

Where and how does the company operate? (e.g., headquarters location, store locations, number of employees working for the company, key internal executives in the company.)

In your assignments, you will focus on a challenge or opportunity for the company and connect it back to some of the main categories of study in your business program.

What area do you anticipate will be the focus of your consultation and how can you apply the knowledge and skills that you’ve obtained throughout your business program? (e.g., finance, operations, leadership, marketing, human resources [staffing], etc.)

Provide a substantive response to one or more of your classmates. You are encouraged to ask questions to help each other in refining this part of your assignment.

  • Greetings, Dr. Keller, esteemed professors, and colleagues. Following our dialogue last week, I selected Toyota Motor Corporation for analysis. In this session, I will explore the company’s operational facets, highlighting its central office locations, dealership presence, employee strength, and essential executive leadership. Toyota is a vanguard in the automotive industry, renowned for its fusion of innovation, quality, and dedication to societal progress.
  • Headquarters Location: Toyota Motor Corporation’s principal headquarters is at 1 Toyota-Cho in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Meanwhile, the North American branch, Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (TMNA), is based in Plano, Texas, at 6565 Headquarters Drive. TMNA handles various operations in North America, including manufacturing, research and development, sales, marketing, product support, digital innovation, and mobility initiatives.

Store Locations: Toyota boasts an extensive network of dealerships throughout the United States. For instance:

Luther Brookdale Toyota in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, is known for its tailored car-buying journey, outstanding client service, and dependable vehicle servicing.

  • Rudy Luther Toyota is in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and serves the Minneapolis region.
  • Additional Toyota dealerships can be located using the Toyota Dealer Locator tool.

Number of Employees: By the close of the fiscal year 2023, Toyota employed a global workforce of 375,235, a slight increase of 0.65% from the prior year. Toyota positions itself as a top-tier automobile producer, contending with industry giants like the Renault-Nissan alliance, Volkswagen Group, and General Motors.

Key Internal Executives: Prominent figures within Toyota include:

  • Tetsuo “Ted” Ogawa, the president and CEO of Toyota Motor North America, steers all operations in the region.
  • Scott Cooke, president and CEO of Toyota Financial Services (TFS), focuses on operational management.

I expect that marketing will be the focus of the consultation. Marketing consultants focus on brand positioning, market research, and customer segmentation. They develop marketing plans, digital strategies, and customer experience enhancements. They leverage skills in data analytics, consumer behavior, and competitive analysis.
