Business Law Question

Students will quickly discover that much of what makes up the news and commentary in the media involve business issues of a legal nature, such as matters involving immigration, abortion rights, search and seizure, religious freedom, the Second Amendment, privacy, sexual harassment, etc. It is important that students understand how legal issues and principles pervade everyday life. To instill appreciation of the law as it pertains to our society, students will be expected to review news sources, such as newspapers, magazines, and their online news equivalent for articles of a legal nature. You must consider and analyze and affect your 7 | P a g e particular topic has on business. The students should be prepared to discuss their articles for participation credit. These assignments will constitute 20% of the student’s grade. Your papers must be in APA format and must include the following: 1. Source of the News, i.e., CNN, FOX NEWS, NY TIMES, Etc. which proper APA bibliography and citations. 2. Statement of the facts and the law involved, i.e., statute, lawsuit, pending legislation, new proposed regulation, etc. 3. Status of the legal matter. 4. How this article and case, statute, etc., affects or may affect business, either in general or industry specific. There must be some legal analysis. The affect on business should be described by the legal Issue, Rule of law, legal Analysis, and a Conclusion. We will discuss the IRAC method at length. The Conclusion would be some effect on business. 5. What is your reasoned opinion about the matter and what results would you like to see?
