Cybercrimes
Abstract:
Today, everyone is moving towards the era of digitization and networking, which undoubtedly brings
numerous benefits in various fields such as e-commerce, communication, and so on. It also gives rise to
a new criminal methodology, commonly known as cybercrime, suddenly. To prevent crimes in such a
virtual world, a focus on related laws and orders is required. Many laws and measures, such as the IT Act
of 2000 and the National Cyber Security Policy, have been enacted to prevent these evils. Although the
term “cybercrime” has no legal origin or reference point, activities such as cyber vandalism, cyber
violence, and cyber rape are not categorized or have legal status under cybercrime. Any law that applies
to the internet or internet-related technologies is referred to as cyber law. Cyber law is a relatively new
area of the legal system. This is due to the rapid advancement of internet technology. People who use
the internet are legally protected under cyber law. This applies to both businesses and ordinary citizens.
Understanding cyber law is critical for anyone who uses the internet. Cyber Law has also been referred
to as “internet law.” Cyberlaw is divided into three major categories: Human rights violations (e.g.,
harassment, stalking, pornography, identity theft) Property-related offenses (e.g., DDOS attacks,
hacking, copyright infringement) Crimes against the state (e.g., hacking, cyber terrorism). Businesses and
individuals can protect themselves from cybercrime with the right cybersecurity. Cybersecurity attempts
to address flaws in computers and networks. Cybersecurity policy is concerned with advising anyone
who may be vulnerable to cybercrime. Businesses, individuals, and even the government are all
included. Many countries are attempting to promote cybersecurity and prevent cybercrime. For
example, in 2000, the Indian government enacted the Information Technology Act. The primary goal of
this law is to improve data transmission over the internet while keeping it secure. In this paper, I will
primarily focus on issues related to cyber law; raising awareness of cybercrime; cyber security; and the
precautions we can take to protect ourselves from cybercrime.
