BSL 103 Quinsigamond Community College Tort and Crime Questions

To start the process, read pages 447 – 469 of the course text [ (Emerson, W.R.J.D. (2015). Business Law (Barron’s Business Review). Barron’s Educational Services; Sixth edition]).  Then complete the assignment.

Here is your assignment for the week.

You need to first conduct some research on the world wide web.  The focus of your research is to find at least two examples where a person has been charged with both a crime and a tort for the same act or set of acts. Then in a paper discuss the specifics of each of the cases.  You must:

1. Describe the facts of each case completely (meaning more than a couple of sentences.)

2. Identify and define each of the torts and crimes that the individual allegedly did. You should provide definitions taken from the course texts whenever you refer to a specific tort and/or crime.

3. Explain the consequences if the individual who committed the acts is found liable/guilty of the torts/crimes.

4. Explain the difference between the terms “liability” and “guilt” in your own words, but providing a definition from the course text in addition to your explanation (with citation of course!)
