Please write a two-paragraph Biology experiment proposal including the following information. Descriptions of your materials and methods. Describe your different variables (independent and dependent), your controls (positive and negative), controlling for outside variables (having plants in the same location, getting equal water, etc.), your proposed methods/protocols, replication (if possible) and materials you will need from me (reagents, known acids and bases, etc.). Information:
Plant Nutrients Experiment
Hypothesis: Changing the nutrient levels of plants will affect the
overall size, color, and leaf size of plants.
Materials: 5 plants (pea plants?)
Soil
Miracle grow (has even N, P, K levels)
Ammonium Sulfate (for nitrogen)
Super phosphate (for phosphorus)
Muriate of Potash (for potassium)
Procedure: Have 2 controls, one using miracle grow and another using
regular soil. One plant treated with ammonium sulfate, one with super
phosphate and another with muriate of potash. Give plants same dosage of
its nutrient and record results weekly.
Independent variables: variables are different nutrients.
Dependent Variables: Measurement of growth, observation of color and size
of leaves/flowers
Controls: same amount of sunlight and water. Given same amount of
whichever nutrient plant is assigned. All outside conditions for plants
will be the same.
