Assignment

Compare and contrast the ways in which the US obtained land from Indians living in the areas that subsequently became the United States and from Hispanic peoples living in the land that subsequently became the United States. What methods were used to obtain land from each of these groups? What were the consequences for each group?

Answers should be no less than 2-3 pages or 600 words double-spaced for each question; longer is fine. I expect that students will use proper grammar, paragraph structure and will proof-read their work for typos, misspellings, etc. Remember to footnote/cite your sources, and to use many specific historical examples as evidence for your ideas!
