  1. n, you will create a new model by choosing From a Data Source .
  2. In the Select a data source window, scroll down the left planal to select OData Services.
  3. In the Create Model from OData Services window, select the connection you created in step#2, and click Next.
  4. In the New Query for OData Services window, create a Query Name (for example, Red_ID#_Inventory) for the Sales model you are going to select, and click Next.
  5. In the Build OData Services Query window, double click the Sales model icon in the left planal to select all Data items, then click Create.
  6. In the Draft Data window, select your query after the game data is drafted into the Sales model.
  7. In the Modeler | New Model screen, select the Card View icon under Layout.
  8. Using the information hereActions to modify the Data Type of some variables from Measure to Dimension (Generic) or vice versa. Click on the card view of a variable you need to modify. Click on the drop-down menu of Type to select the correct data type.
  9. When you finish the modification, click on Create Model, and click Create again.
  10. In the Save Model window, double-click the “YourRed#” folder. Then create your own subfolder by clicking the folder icon . Double-click your subfolder just created, and save your model in a “Data” folder (you need to create it) there.
  11. Follow the instructions above to set up Financial Postings, Inventory, Production, Market, and Sales data models for your assignments.

The following steps show you how to create a basic visualization. Make sure you save your own visualizations under the following convention: Red#_FileName where Red# is your Red ID number so that we can easily find your story/work.

1. Click the home screen icon to go to the welcome screen.

  1. In the welcome screen, choose the Stories icon at the left side of your screen.
  2. Create a new story by clicking on the Canvas icon.
  3. Click on “Chart” on the right side of the screen.
  4. Select a model you created in the previous steps.

8. Now, you connect SAP Cloud Analytics to a specific data model. You can create a visualization (e.g., a chart) by selecting “Story” at the left of your screen.

9. In the next screen, you will find a charting area on the left side of the screen and a “Builder” window on the right side. In the “Builder” window, you will see the current Data Source: SALES.

10. There are many helpful tools available for SAP Cloud Analytics. Please spend time exploring the functionality available to you. The following steps will get you started creating the Story visualization functions.

16. Change the color of your dimension by selecting the down-pointing arrow to the right of the color palate under +Add Dimension.

18. Then insert a text box to write a brief description/analysis (50 to 100 words) of your chart.

19. Save your story/file using the naming convention in the SAC Assignment folder. If you want to create other stories for your practice, please save them in a “Work” folder in “My Files” for better file management.

Now create visualizations based on your role (as a planner, or a production manager or a sales manager, an accountant/business analyst) in the ERPSim by clicking on the Insert chart icon on the ribbon at the top of your screen. Or you can create visualizations to explore different data cubes that are available.

  1. To submit the assignment to Canvas, you will need to export it as a PDF file. On the File tab of the ribbon, click on Save. Choose Save, then Export. Click Export one more time. You should be able to find your file in the download folder.
  2. Then upload both charts and the description/analysis to Canvas by the due date.
