LO2 Illustrate the potential impact of the law on a business.
Vocational Scenario (LO 1 & LO 2):
Begbies Traynor LLP is one of the reputed UK and international law firm which provides high quality
legal advice tailored to both businesses and individuals.
You are a paralegal working at Begbies Traynor LLP. Your senior partner Mr. Traynor is having a
meeting with a very important client Mr. Ali from Oman later in the week. He is unfamiliar with
the English Legal System and requires in depth information and knowledge on how the legal system
works as he would like to extend his business to U.K. He further requires information regarding the
role of the UK government in law making and the impact of important business laws.
Mr. Traynor has asked you to prepare a report which will enable Mr. Ali to refer on the legal system
and help them to understand the key legislations that are required to know for effectively running
the business. The report must also provide a coherent and critical evaluation of the legal system and
law, with evidence drawn from a range of different examples to support judgements.
The report must include the following sections:
1. An explanation of the legal system.
2. An overview of the sources of law.
3. An explanation on the role of government in law-making and how statutory and common law is
applied.
