Instructions for Installing SQLiteStudio
The installation of SQLiteStudio is very easy compared to larger relational database management systems (RDBMS)
such as MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle. SQLiteStudio is also available for a number of operating systems, including
MacOS and Windows. This will allow us to focus more on learning SQL rather than installing databases. Please
follow these two steps:

Browse to https://sqlitestudio.pl/ to find the most recent release
of SQLiteStudio (3.4.4). Click Download (it should automatically
detect your operating system).
a. For PCs – Click Download and then decompress/extract the
downloaded zip file (you can simply open the zip folder and
then drag the SQLiteStudio folder to a different location).
Then open the folder named SQLiteStudio and run (doubleclick) the SQLiteStudio.exe executable (application).
b. For macOS – Click Download to download the .dmg
file. Right click the downloaded application and
select Open. If you receive a warning that the app
is from an unidentified developer do not “Eject
Disk Image.” Instead, go to System Preferences —
> Security & Privacy, select General, click on the
Lock on the bottom left-hand corner and Unlock >
Click Open Anyway.1 After the installation has
completed, you can find the SQLiteStudio icon in
Finder —> Go —> Applications folder.

Connect to the Northwind Database (see the SQL Assignment module on Canvas).
First download Northwind_Original.db to your computer. Note
that you cannot open the file directly – instead you need to open
the file from within SQLiteStudio. To do this, select Database 
Add a Database (picture to right). Under file, select the folder
symbol on the right, browse to the downloaded database file,
select the file, and click OK. If the database is not visible after
connecting to the database, then go to View and make sure that
the Databases checkbox is selected (picture below left). To start
creating SQL select queries in SQLiteStudio, open the query editor
by going to Tools  Open SQL Editor (picture below right). You
are now ready to begin the SQL assignment.

If this does not work, then try to temporarily disable Gatekeeper by opening the System Preferences window
(click the Apple icon at the top-left corner of your screen or click the System Preferences icon on your dock) and
click the Security & Privacy icon. Now click the lock icon (in the bottom left corner), enter your password, and set
the “Allow apps downloaded from” option to “Anywhere.”
