Group Facilitation Assignment
Design and deliver a training session on Chapter 6 from 8th ed.
Topics (6) On-the-Job Training Methods
OBJECTIVE:
Your training session’s objective is to prepare your classmates, who are future HR
Professionals, on the content found in your chosen Chapter. Remember you are the subject
matter experts on the topics found in the chapter and as a team of 4, strive to facilitate the key
topics in an engaging way, keeping in mind the Principles of Adult Learning (Ch. 2)
Part A: Lesson Plan Package 20%
Your group will create a lesson plan for your facilitation. The package you submit should
contain all the materials and be written from the lens, that any facilitator could use it to
facilitate the session. This means you need to provide significant guidance in terms of what to
do and how to set up the activities.
Your lesson plan will include the following components:
1. Executive Summary
• Describing the topic and the facilitation
• Describing the type of activities and tools used to engage your audience
2. Logistics Cover Page (see sample in textbook, pg 252, 8th ed.)
3. An appropriate number of learning objectives for the session, written in correct format (see
Ch. 4). 4 components and 3 parts
4. Agenda of session that provides information about:
• An overview of each activity planned
• your facilitation must be interactive with the class (not including the activity
referenced immediately below)
• your facilitation should include an activity to enhance learning of content
• your facilitation should include a Question and Answer session
• The time allotted for each event and activity
• Detailed instructions on how to facilitate the activity (remember, enough detail for
someone else to lead the session)
• Material(s) required for the activity
• Any other relevant information that would assist any facilitator in implementing the
activity
• Your facilitation should incorporate multiple points of Gagne’s Nine Principles of Design
and Delivery (see Ch. 8)
5. Materials required to facilitate the session
• PowerPoint slides (if applicable), external links, ‘activities’, etc.
• A handout(s) for participants
All references used must be cited.
The lesson plan will be graded out of 50 and is worth 20% of your final mark.
