- Leaders sometimes find themselves in situations that challenge their value system or moral compass. They may not agree with the organization’s mission or vision for a specific initiative. This Leadership Development Action Plan will help you apply the concepts you learn from the course resources to your real-life goals. You will use the Leadership Development Action Plan in
this course’s discussions, milestones, and final project. It is very important that you update this document every week. Complete this document by replacing the bracketed text with the
relevant information.
In Module One, you will fill in the first two columns. Start by identifying three leadership areas you would like to improve. Explain why you chose these areas. In Modules Two through Six, you
will create an outline of at least three of the components from the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership that will improve your chosen leadership areas.
It’s important to be specific. For example, “communication” might be a skill you want to develop. What kind of communication? Where? When? A more specific description of this area for
improvement might be “speaking up in meetings.” Your reasons might be, “I have good ideas that I’d like people to consider.” In the remaining columns, use the Five Practices of Exemplary
Leadership to explain the actions you could take to improve your ability to speak up in meetings.
