In this assignment, you will create The Jungle, a new online shopping site that will lay waste to
Amazon. At its inception, Jungle will offer the following kinds of products:
• electronics
• apparel
• jewelry
• appliances
• tools
The Jungle is still lining up its suppliers, so its stock is limited. In fact, you can read all the items
The Jungle carries from the file jungle_items.txt, a tab-delimited file. The file describes each
item, one item per row that is formatted like this
category
name_of_item
cost
To buy things from The Jungle, a shopper will select the item by number from a list. The item
will then be placed in the shopper’s cart. The shopper can check their cart at any time and
remove an item or even clear the cart’s contents. When they are done, the shopper can pay
and exit.
This is how your solution will be graded:

with your last name.
You will earn -35 out of 35 if you copy any part of your code from someone or something else,
or allow others to copy from you.
There will be a 10 point penalty if your program crashes.

My apologies for the unexpected difficulties we experienced making sure everyone could install Matplotlib. I didn’t realize that, on Windows, some
people would have the necessary files in unpredictable places.
First – let me give a disclaimer – I’m not going to assign a homework where we use matplotlib. I’m covering matplotlib just because it’s useful and I
think at least some of you will find it interesting (i.e. I’m teaching it just because that’s how school should be – show you interesting things). So, with
that said, it might not be worth your while to get it installed if you’re not interested in getting it to work.
Assuming you do want to get it worked, my best advice – since I can’t predict how everyone has it set up – is to reinstall Python. You’ll see that this
page highlights the checkbox to update the path to include python. Make sure it’s checked. Or, if you run the installer to update your current
installation, make sure you check the box to “Add python to system environment variables”. Here is the page that describes this:

Once you do reinstall or update, you should be able to open a command prompt and type pip3 install matplotlib.
