Students will be expected to post their first initial discussion board posting by Friday of each week. Discussion posts will be graded and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.
Students are expected to post their responses to peers by Tuesday. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.
Primary Task Response:Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas:
In this first week, you are starting to think about how to develop and conduct test cases that would occur throughout the software development life cycle. As a senior coder and experienced test engineer, you have been given a new software testing future key project where you were asked to develop and conduct test cases that would occur throughout the software development life cycle. To get started, you will need to decide on a possible software application to use as your scenario for your upcoming assignments. Your software application needs to be one of the following types:
After you make a selection you will decide specifically what the application will do. The functionality will be used as the basis of your test plan. In this discussionforum you will share how you will start to perform functional analysis needed to describe the required system functions, outputs, and input data Answer the following questions to assist in determining this test case functional analysis:
What major functions must your system/software provide?
Based on the identification of the functions, what outputs must be produced by the system/software to fulfill those functions?
What input data are required by the system/software to produce the outputs required for each function?
Provide input to the functional analysis stated by at least two others, and help them build their responses to these questions. Be sure to use APA format when citing other references.
Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 2 of your fellow classmates with at least a 100-word reply about their Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the following questions:

Now that I have made my decision to use Data Warehouse Software, which is a relational database to store and manage data, I shall decide specifically what the application will do. The functionality will be used as the basis of my test plan. In this discussion board post I will share the way in which I will start to perform the functional analysis needed to describe the required system functions, outputs, and input data and I will answer the following questions to assist in determining this test case functional analysis:
What major functions must your system/software provide? The data warehouse is basically a collection of organized business data that endures the features to recover the data functions. It has been filled with facts from the company’s transactions. Some of the functions that it must perform are:
1. Data Loading
2. Data Access
Based on the identification of the functions, what outputs must be produced by the system/software to fulfill those functions?
Data loading is the process of copying and loading data from a source file, folder or application to a database. It is usually implemented by copying digital data from a source and loading the data to a data storage.
Data Access is the on-demand, authorized ability to retrieve, modify, copy, or move data from systems. Users can perform these functions remotely. Data access is the means by which users can get to this data.
What input data are required by the system/software to produce the outputs required for each function?
The input data for these functions would be the information dumps into the data warehouse. This will be done by batches at 2:00 am every Tuesday morning.
