Assuming that the law of a country reflects its customs, identify and discuss at least one select law in a foreign country and how customes influenced the enactment of the law.  Please also discuss pros and cons to various controls and potential benefits and pitfalls of doing business internationally.  Please also respond to attached post and expand upon the original thread’s comments.

When I looked up information on laws of a country reflected by its
customs, I found fjc.gov says that “Customary law is a set of laws based
on the traditions, customs, or norms of a local community. It is applied in
many countries around the world, often in conjunction with civil,
common, and religious legal systems.”

I searched: “What are two characteristics of customary international
law?”
“Examples of customary international law:
1) Doctrine of non-refoulement. 2) Immunity for visiting heads of state
& diplomats. 3) Maritime salvage customs & norms (go back to Greek &
Roman times). 4) Peremptory norms (jus cogens) forbidding slavery,
torture, genocide, wars of aggression, & crimes against humanity.”

Pros and Cons of doing business internationally:
Doing business internationally can be more exciting and more difficult at
the same time. There is a greater population to consider, larger distance
to cover (for physical products shipping and manufacturing), there are
more laws to consider (laws from each jurisdiction affected), and
languages/cultures to consider rather than just one that a local business
would contend with.
As for if this is a pro or a con – my theory is it is a matter of scale. The
larger the gains and the larger the possible headaches, issues, or
intricasies resulting in business is all available when you do business
internationally. If you like that- then it is a “pro”. If you would like a more
simple route/process/business – then it is viewed unfavorably.
The classification of “pro” or “con” is how you look at it and asses value
based on your wants/needs/goals.
