This initial phase will be your proposal in which you will identify the organization, identify the three areas that you will use to evaluate your organization, and include a brief literature review of at least five sources that you will use for your final assignment.
Here is what needs to be included in your proposal:
- Identify a public administration organization (local, state, federal, or nonprofit) that you would like to examine. This organization will be the basis of your final presentation and will incorporate concepts and practices discussed during this course.Be prepared to provide background information about the organization. What is the mission of the organization? What is their general historical background? How is the organization structure? You will need to include enough detail for your audience to understand how the organization operates.
- Identify and briefly describe a minimum of three areas where you would like to focus your analysis. Again, this is a broad evaluation of the organization versus examining a specific problem. Consider what public administrators within the organization would identify as areas that need to be developed or improved when determining what areas to focus on for your project. For your final project, you will more specifically define these areas and offer recommendations on how the organization/agency can make improvements.Choose from the following:LeadershipManagementPersonnelBudgetTechnologyManagementPolicy/FederalismPerformance ManagementEthics
- Identify a minimum of five sources that provide information regarding your organization or provide information regarding the areas you will use to evaluate the organization. Note: This is just to get you started and should not be the only source used for the final project. Your proposal will include a literature review where you will briefly summarize each of your five sources and share how this information is useful to your project.
