This is a pretty fun chapter-you will pick up a few practical pointers on consumer protection laws and be an expert with all the warranty paperwork that comes with those electronic products that you buy. There are a few cool concepts this chapter including “cooling-off” laws, cease- and- desist orders, deceptive advertising and the old, bait and switch advertising.
EASY Question(s)- How many of you have ever read one of those warranties that comes with your cell phone, Video games, air fryer, toaster-ovens or how about the Food Savers that your parents bought at Costco? What about when you get a credit card- have you read the fine print on the credit Cardmember Agreement? Enough of the easy questions! LOL
Next time, if you get a chance, read the Agreement and Warranty and think about BUSE 140/Business Law at Mesa College- when dealing with Warranties and Consumer Law.
HARD Questions- Do we really need all these silly government laws and regulations? Why/who do we need to protect from deceptive advertising, contaminated food, FDA or FAA rules, Truth in Lending, Telemarketing or Fair Debt Collection?
Again, feel free to discuss concepts from the chapter which you find of interest, answer some of the above questions AND… can’t resist the McDonald’s Happy Meal Case- 22-3…any thoughts on this litigation? ….And, take a look at the very end of the chapter- Critical Thinking and Writing Assignments– 22-8 and the 3 really thought provoking questions-apply to the legalization and regulation of marijuana (California/Arizona)
