you
will
prepare
a business plan
for
a business that
you hypothetically plan to start. It does not need to be a real business that you actually plan to start – you can make it all up if you like! You will write a paper, at least 4‐5 pages in length (or more, if you like ‐ there is no maximum) that outlines your business and analyzes some of the legal issues that you will need to deal with and how you plan to do so. I will expect you to apply what you have learned throughout the semester to your business plan – this means concepts from the course, not stories, imagining what success will look like, long explanations of why you picked the business you picked to write about, etc. Some topics that you could cover include: What form will your business take & why? (partnership? Sole proprietorship?) What potential Tort Liabilities will you need to guard against? How will you do that? What Intellectual Property issues will you have? How will you address them? Will you have any Employees? If so, will they be employees or independent contractors? Why? What are some examples of Contracts to which your business will be a party? What are some protections that you will want to have in those contracts? Issues that you will want to address? Please note, these are just a few of the many, many topics that we cover in this course. You cannot possibly cover all of the concepts on all of the chapters, so please don’t try! Instead, please select a few topics and discuss them in some detail as they apply to your plan.
