Week 8: WWII
I want us to think about the way that WWII presented a complicated
picture of race and ethnicity. We often think of the Allies as the good
side and the Axis as the evil side and leave it at that.
How do actions undertaken before, during, and after the war on all
sides of the conflict force us to reexamine our understanding of race
relations and gender roles? How does the home front in America, for
example, represent a white supremacist society that we were fighting in
Europe? How does the battle against fascism in Europe and Asia look
different in the media?
