original postDarwinian evolution means that the gene pool is changed. Do you think the human race is continuing to evolve in a Darwinian, genetic sense? Are the genes of our species changing? Do not just write “yes” or “no,” but explain why you think so. In addition, include in your explanation of how the mechanisms of evolution, such as natural selection, would be at play.

We are still continuing to evolve in a Darwinian genetic sense as our ability to fight off diseases increases and even something as simple as tolerating lactose for many has changed. Natural selection is a mechanism that causes populations of living things to change over time. We are continuing to change through natural selection as our genetic response to infectious disease has changed. While disease killed the more genetically weak the fitter individuals survived and passed these traits down to their offspring. As we continue to encounter diseases our genetics will continue to respond over time and change to better fight off these infections and maintain the human race.
