There are a number of other recent treatment techniques that we have not
discussed. All make use of technology, both as a device and as a procedure. Below
are a few examples.
Brain-computer interfaces
 3-D printing (hearing aids, teeth-straightening braces, prosthetics)
 Laparoscopic surgery

In this assignment, you are to prepare a formal report/essay describing the
technology involved in one of the above. It will be necessary to focus on one
specific example within your chosen broader area. For example, you might focus on
3-D printing in the development of a functional prosthetic hand or how BCI headsets
can assist paraplegics control computer cursors with their brain. Although it is a
formal report, you may include illustrations. Make sure your sources are as up to
date as possible. You can use recent examples from media.
Note
Other topics are possible, but please consult with your teacher before starting.
Your report/essay should include detailed information on each of the following:
A description of when, where and why the technology/procedure is used
 A description of how the technology works, including both equipment and
process

