Your task is to search for three news articles or news videos published within the
last 12 months that relate to three different public health issues. These must be
news-based rather than blogs, editorials, advertisements, or opinion pieces.
Once you have found three news articles, submit the links via email to your
teacher for approval.
Note
Do not start writing the summary and opinion until you receive feedback from
your teacher.
When choosing the article, please keep the following in mind:





must be related to public health
should be an article that you find interesting
must be a news article and not an opinion piece, editorial, or blog
must be from within the past 12 months of you choosing the article
must be between 500 and 1000 words in length*
*There is some flexibility with this point. Your teacher will not be counting words.
You must choose an article that is long enough to allow you to demonstrate your
summary writing skills but not too long to make the task more difficult.
Once your teacher has provided feedback on the three articles of your choice,
read the articles carefully (possibly more than once), and write a summary of
each article making connections to public health, as well as your opinion on the
issues raised.
