Summary
In the course Wiki, there is a list of essential skills that I.T. professionals working in
world-class service organizations should possess. Each student has been assigned one item from
the list and will create a brief slide presentation of at least five minutes in duration. Time your
presentation beforehand to verify you have the right number of slides based on the text in the
slides and what you will say. Make your presentation interesting and relatable for your peers!
Instructions
Describe what your assigned item means; why the skill is beneficial; how it can be
developed; and examples of its presence or its absence. You might also mention how you
currently measure up with respect to your item; or, how others do, from experiences you’ve
witnessed. Feel free to role-play for demonstration purposes. Additional ideas are provided next
to each item in the Course Wiki. You are expected to look deeply into your assigned item as
compared to doing only a superficial examination. Be thoughtful and include your references.
This portion of the course can be viewed as consisting of small workshops conducted by
the students. It is generally well-regarded by the class and students are usually interested in their
peers’ ideas, research, and enthusiasm. Lastly, for the upcoming feedback assignment your grade
will reflect your presence during presentations so be on time for each session.
