- This assignment is based solely on your interpretation of one artwork on exhibit in the Blume Library. Use the following to help you formulate your thoughts, views, observations about the artwork you select.
- Consider what is being asked of you by thinking it all through before beginning your paper. Use the following as a guide ONLY and not a Q&A format.
- Subject Matter – tell me what you think this work is about – what do you think the artist is attempting to express / say?
- Formal Elements – qualities that most art has in common with each other like: it use of line, value, shape, color, texture, space.
- Medium – means the material used to make the artwork (the plural of Medium if Media). Mixed media indicates the use of several different materials brought together in one artwork
- Content and / or Function – refers to the meaning or message the work of art has for YOU personally. Content refers to your interpretation of what the art is all about; what you find is the message of the artwork.
- *Remember it is not enough to simply say that you ‘like it’, you must validate/explain why you ‘like it’; critical thinking.
- Note: There is no need for RESEARCH simply arrange your thoughts, views, and observations about your chosen artwork in the required format.
