In the wake of the Arab Spring and its aftermath — the unrest in the Middle East and regions around it — there are a number of critical developments to watch and discuss.

• a) Explain whether you believe that democracy has worked in Iraq and Afghanistan. Provide support for your response.
• b) Discuss the progress Iran is making in their attempt to implement a democratic election process. Next, speculate on two (2) challenges you believe Iran will face in accomplishing this task. Justify your response.
