New East Side Nursing Home

New East Side Nursing Home is a New York facility that has an overall rating of above average. The facility is small in size with a capacity of 58 beds. It is under corporate ownership and it is for-profit organization.  The organization also participates in Medicaid and Medicare. In terms of health inspection, New East Side Nursing Home is above average. In New York, the facility has 4.6 as the average number of health citations and an average of 7.2 citations in the US. The company has no record of complaints as a result of a citation. New East Side Nursing Home is above average in terms of staffing rate.  The total number of residents in this hospital is 58 which averagely rates 167.5 in New York and 85. 4 in US.  The time spend in the facility by a single licensed nurse per resident  is 1 hour and 15 minutes with an average time of  1hour and 37 minutes in New York while nationally it is 1 hour 41 minutes. The average CAN time per resident per day is 2 hours and 5 minutes with an average of 2 hours  and 20 minutes in New York and an average of  2 hours and 27 minutes nationally. The quality of this resident care is far much above average (Medicare.gov. 2018). 

I believe that the quality of resident care is the most important performance measure to customers. This is because the performance measure allows customers to determine if a home is certified by Medicare and Medicaid which are very crucial for they give a follow up to every resident in the facility. The higher a facility rates in terms of quality of resident care, the higher the possibility that the residents are accorded the best care. I believe that the least important performance measure to customers is Fire Safety measure. I term this measure as list important because it does not directly affect the health of customers. 

I believe that customers should use the website as part of their process of selecting a nursing facility. This is because the website provides them a platform to compare varying nursing homes that are certified by Medicaid and Medicare.  With over 15000 nursing homes being available on the site it becomes easy to find a quality facility. By visiting the website, a customer is able to see how different nursing homes perform on fire safety and health issues; how they are staffed with healthcare providers and how well they are able to care for the residents. 

When a customer is choosing a nursing facility, He/she should consider a number of things with inclusion of cost; layout; scope of care; conditions; staffing and layout. The cost of care is important for it allows a customer to work within his/her budget.  Scope of care is crucial for a resident should be taken in a facility that can take care of his/her medical conditions. The condition of the facility in terms of comfort and maintenance is crucial since that is where a resident spends all his/her time. The layout of the facility should also be considered to ensure that the resident is comfortable (The Dinizulu Law Group, 2017). For instance there are people who would prefer not to have a roommate.  Staffing is also an important consideration to ensure that a resident is well catered for.  Having visited this nursing facility, I agree with the ratings for indeed their performance is above average.

I chose BOWLING GREEN NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER because one of my mother’s friend been there and when I asked her she said they have the best service for the caregivers and their safety is better than the others that she has visited before. I totally believe that the most important performance measures for the customers of healthcare is the Staffing. Staffing is the major concern because they have the most impact on the patient. Staffing they always have to be with the patients and take care of them because the patient will feel save and comfort if the get the best quality of care from the staff. 

1. Which performance measure is least important to the consumers?  Why?

I think the least important performance fro the consumers is the Health Inspections because if the facility provides the best environment for the patient then they won’t need heath inspections at all.

1. Should consumers use this website as part of their process to select a nursing facility? Why or why not? 

Absolutely Yes, sometimes patient does not have more information about a certain facility that they are looking for, but not internet made it so much easier fro the patient to search and found the facility’s website and read about it. So yes, it’s very important for each facility to have their own website and put all the information that the patient need to know about. 

1. What other factors, data, information or methods should a consumer seek out and utilize when choosing a nursing facility?

There are a lot of ways to do when choosing a nursing facility but if I was looking for a nursing facility I will look fir a reference or a friend that I trust and who is been there and ask about their service. I also will look for the location of the facility because there are not safe location where the facility is located at, so it’s very important to checkout the location before. 

 

1. If you have visited this nursing facility, do you agree with the ratings it has received by CMS? 

I have not been there at all, but I agreed after I asked my mother’s friend about it and I heard good thinks about it.
