You are to find one example of a crime map from any source (e.g., the Internet, newspapers, magazines, your local police department) and obtain an original copy of the map to be turned in with the assignment. Because you are to select only one, you should be choosy in your selection and don’t just select the first one you come across.

You will LIST the following information for the map you selected:

� Type of map (single symbol, graduated by size, etc.):

� Geographic area represented in the map (e.g., city, state, neighborhood):

� Data on the map (e.g., crime, population, accidents):

� Time period of the data (i.e., list dates):

� Creator of the map (e.g., agency and individual, if listed):

For the map, you will WRITE OUT the following information:

� Brief summary of additional information included with the map:

� Purpose of the map (e.g., tactical, strategic, administrative, with justification for your selection):

� Your general impressions/critique of the map (e.g., helpful, serves its purpose, makes sense):
