Many at times when you tell people you are a nurse the next sentence that comes is “wow that must be such a rewarding career” even though is rewarding it comes with some challenges. I believe the biggest challenge in this profession is that of deciding the next step to take in this ever changing profession. Moving in to a leadership role or transitioning from the daily clinician to nurse manager can be quite intimidating because this is the role where we provide guidance and direction to the team rather than working independently. When beginning a review of concepts found in nursing practice, research, education and administration, one may look to several places or sources for relevant concepts (McEwin & Willis, 2014, p. 53).
