Overview
The organization that I have chosen to talk about is Capgemini Consulting. Capgemini is a consulting company that operates in 44 countries worldwide. Capgemini is a company that assists in processing new Medicaid applications and updating any current applicants. This is a company that is beneficial to many but has many issues and problems. The problem with the organization the company is failing to retain employees. Major issues with this company consist of inconsistency of employees pay, lack of communication, and inconsistency of maintain paperwork. In what could be a great and more successful business hurts due to poor HR/management.
To having a successful company having a good HR department, management and good pay is important. Never at any point do employees want to come to work and be stressed out because of the type of management they must work under. Working at Capgemini the management was an issue since some took their title and allowed it to cause issues. There were times situations of the way management would speak down to employees, talk about employees and even made the work environment uncomfortable. Sometimes if you don’t let them know that you are an adult and should be treated as such and given respect. This company did have a lot of management that are in their early 20’s. It shouldn’t make a difference but to them to supervise people that are in their 30’s or older made some feel as if the person of that age needed the job and that it didn’t matter how they were treated.
When being hired HR should be able to process all your paperwork and assist you with any questions or concerns. The problem with Capgemini HR department you never met with the same person and they didn’t communicate with each other. One would ask for paperwork via email and then sometimes on the same day or day after someone else would ask for the same paperwork that was submitted. When you would address this problem, and ask who should speak with all they did was point fingers and send you to the wrong person. One would think how can you have this type of disfunction in one of the most important parts of the company. What employee would want to work for a company that starts off with people that are unsure of what needs to be done or even go to them if they have a problem? There were issues with some employees being told a certain amount that they were going to get paid and the day. However, when it came time for the pay period many employees didn’t get their pay and was told something different. When a person is hired that is one of the first questions that will be asked. I am sure many like myself only took the job based on the pay and the time of getting paid. Going to HR for answers and concerns with this situation caused many to quit. Yet, it didn’t cause them to question or even try to figure out what they could have done to prevent or fix this situation.
The HR department is where the company should be able to go and receive critical information about what is going on in the company and ways to make it more successful. However, the high turnover will continue and the company will not succeed to its full potential. Uncertain as to why the owners of Capgemini haven’t seen this as an issue tried to figure ways in handling. What type of advice is the HR department really providing in the reports or is it hard to see based on the number of hires they do daily. Having a stronger HR department that follows the laws and rules and having proficient people in these positions would cause a higher rate in productivity and less in employees quitting. HR would then be able to handle the pay the way it should and have other options in handling management whether it be more training or firing. HR is who should make sure that all the employees talents are being used properly and resourcefully for the good of the company.
