Hypothesis and Topic Statement on Natural disaster
Topic statement
Natural disasters are events that no human being can win or fight against, since people are evidently powerless against nature. Numerous people have the perception that natural disasters are mainly caused by the various human activities as well as environmental pollution. However, authoritative scholars have conducted various researches and they have proved that natural disasters are a phenomenon that is very hard to comprehend since nobody knows when the next will happen (Davis, 2008). It is therefore paramount to establish a comprehensive Emergency management that will be able to avert the destructive nature that is caused by these natural disasters (Mahanti, 2006). Emergency management ensures that it has set in place various mechanisms that will assist in the preparedness of any natural disaster. This includes having a special team to that will rescue and evacuate any victims, conducting disaster management programs as well as mobilizing funds in case of any losses (Mechler, 2004).
Hypotheses
1.
It is worth noting that natural disasters are mostly disruptive events, which cause hardship, deprivation, injury, suffering, and even death due to disease and direct injury. Natural disasters also lead to the interruption of businesses and commerce, total or partial destruction of vital infrastructures such as hospitals, homes, other buildings, power lines, bridges and roads. Natural disasters can be caused mainly by natural occurring events, which include tornadoes, flooding, hurricanes and earthquakes. In addition, natural disasters can also be defined by the level of their impacts (Abbott, 2004). Events such as huge tsunamis, continental-wide droughts and volcanic eruptions are classified as catastrophic disasters due to their humongous effects on the human life especially over a huge spatial scale. On the other hand, other natural disasters may not have a big impact on the people although they have the potential to change the landscape face permanently. This includes landslides and avalanches that may take place in uninhabited regions, whereby the only possible result can be a sudden physical environment change. However, this research paper will prove that Emergency management is the only solution when a natural disaster strikes since it has noble philosophies which when undertaken, they can really avert the huge damage caused by the natural disasters (Haddow, Bullock & Coppola, 2011).
2.
Emergency management is very noble in the field of Emergency management since it provides valuable major lessons and principles that are followed in order to effectively avert the numerous damages that are caused by the natural disasters. Emergency management is vital and significant to the society since it offers them the necessary preparedness that they require in the event of a natural disaster occurring (Bumgarner, 2008). Emergency management equips the society with the prerequisite knowledge of what are natural disasters and the actions they are supposed to take in order to escape from the natural disaster dangers.
This is very essential for the society because they have the necessary skills that will assist them in case such events occurred. It can also help the society identify its vulnerabilities and create feasible solutions on how to fix their vulnerabilities. It is paramount to note that; nobody can prevent the natural disasters from occurring but the dangers and losses can be avoided effectively through Emergency management (Awasthy, A. 2009). Emergency management ensures that it mobilizes funds that can be used in the event of a natural disaster occurring and this is very fundamental since in cases of emergencies, the main objective is to save the victims from dangers as well as ensuring that they have food, clothing and shelter. Emergency management also establishes counseling centers where the victims can be treated from the various traumas that they may have experienced during a natural disaster event. It establishes the framework by which the various stakeholders including the government know what roles to play in case a natural disaster event took place (Lindell, Perry & Prater, 2007).
