Gun Control

Why has gun control become controversial issue? Since there was a lot of people who have died or have murdered by other civilians who own gun. People start to concerned about their lives and were nervous whether if any one going to kill them when they got attacked. In addition, the idea of gun control came up to the government. Gun control means “regulation of the sale and use of rifles and handguns” (the Free Dictionary). ” The United States has population of 307 million people, based on production data from firearm manufactures there are roughly 300 million firearm owned by civilians (Agresti and Smith, Gun Control Facts). Thus, gun control will insure people safe.

There are many people who likes gun hunting. 58% of gun owners use them for hunting. In addition, allowing them to use gun will make them able to continue their hobby. Moreover, people in rural area are likely to get attacked by dangerous animals. Therefore, when they have their own guns, they will be able to protect themselves. Also, there are people who likes to participate in gun clubs. Thus, they need their personal gun to join the club. Another argument is there are people who like to collect them. They use them to design their house, or even more some keep them as treasure specially if the guns are antiques.

People will be able to prevent themselves from violent crimes. Women are the most who receive violent from criminals. As a result, they could be raped or assault. 67% of guns owners stated they only use it for protection against crime (Smith and Agresti, Gun Control Facts). Some people work in dangers places where criminal gather. In addition, they needs guns so they can get to their work easily and be safe.

There are people believe that the crime rate will probably will increase; however, allowing people to have their gun will make them to protect themselves. People will defend themselves and even others. If someone see a criminal attacking other, this person can frighten the attacker so he/she will run away. “In the Journal of Quantitative Criminology 989,883 times per year people defined themselves and others from crimes” (Smith and Agresti, Gun Control Facts). Moreover, “40% of prisoners had decided not to commit a crime because they knew or believed that the victim was carrying gun” (Smith and Agresti, Gun Control Facts).

In conclusion, gun control will likely make people life safer and also continue doing their hobbies. Banning guns will not decrease the usage of them in murders, because criminals will be reinforced with guns unlike citizens. Plus, guns will be sold in the black market so there will be deception. However, if the government control it they will dominate who sell them or buy them. As a solution to decrease the usage of guns, government could raise the ammo or guns price so a lot of criminals would not be able to buy them. Another solution is sell guns for only certain people who has valid license to buy gun. This license people could get it after training on gunshot center and participate in classes which they learn the consequences of shooting people.
