Current Events Research Paper

This semester we will be studying a variety of subjects that are constantly in the news. This term we are concentrating on diseases and how they affect the body. You are to find recent information and news stories about your topic. Your sources can be books, scientific journals, reliable magazines, newspapers or internet sites. You are to do a research paper that is at least 5 pages long. The paper is to be typed in standard form using Times New Roman font with a size of 12. Your paper should include:

a) an introductory paragraph

b) an overview of the topic (for example, if you choose the disease rubella, you should explain the cause of the disease, the symptoms, how it is treated , the prognosis and if and how it can be transmitted to others. If a vaccine has been developed to prevent the disease, discuss the history of vaccine and how it works.)

c) a summary of the “status” of the research.

d) New research and information that you learned

e) The importance of the information

f) A conclusion

g) A work cited sheet

You must cite all your research material on a word cited sheet (and also internal citations in standard format). If citations are not included, the paper will not be accepted.

a) Microbial resistance to antibiotics

b) Progress in AIDS research

c) An autoimmune disease

d) A disease and its vaccine

e) Allergies

f) Organ transplants
