All based on the Scarlet Letter

 

Based on chapter 1-2. Create a visual representation of the setting as you see it. Creat a collage, a map of what it would look like to live in this area, or a more abstract representation. Include a brief paragraph that explains rationale. 

 

Create a common nursery rhyme, re-write the rhyme to be about Pearl Prynne of the scarlet letter.

 

Create a visual essay with little or no words. You should plan a main thematic statement you wish to communicate. Use images and words to communicate this statement. Use pictures, quotations, symbols, maps, statistics, definitions, and words. 

 

Create two journals. One of Dimmesdale and the other of Chillingsworth. About one page in length. 

 

Create a newspaper article about a major event that happened in the scarlet letter. 

 

Create a song that analyses the relationship between two characters of the book. Use at least 10 different songs to compile the song, no more than three lines of one song.

Create a compare and contrast essay for two characters in this book. Have three arguments with 3 support points. Should be appoximately 6 pages. 

 

Do a movie review of The Scarlet Letter starring Demi Moore and Gary Oldman. How closeley does this movie resemble the novel ? Does the movie successfully portray the novels themes, symbols, and srchetypes ?How is the quality of acting ? Does the actor become the character he or she is portraying ? Are they able to make you feel a certain way ? How are the design elements of the movie ? Are the costumes, make-up and setting appropriate for the time period of the story ? Do they fit the story ?
