First Essay: Television Genres

Instructions:

Choose a genre of television show (e.g., sitcom) and watch one episode of a show of that genre from the 1950s (e.g., I Love Lucy) and one contemporary episode of a show from that same genre (e.g., Modern Family). In your essay discuss how the episodes are reflective of their respective time periods.

Your essay should be three to five pages in length (typed and double spaced). 200 points possible.

Any sources other than class notes used in responding to these questions must be fully cited (this includes books, articles, internet sources, etc.).

The essay is due in class on Thursday, October 17.
