Activity 9 will provide you with an opportunity to start this process. Review the EBSCOhost Tutorial at the NCU Library web site – http://www.ncu.edu/public_images/elrc/flash/ebsco_demo/ebsco_demo.htm Upon completing the tutorial close the window and click on the EBSCOhost link to access the Advanced Search screen and conduct your search. Follow the below steps: 1. Click on the Show All link, above the search boxes to see the databases you are searching. 2. Close this screen to return to the Advanced Search screen 3. Enter your three keywords related to your selected research topic in the three search boxes 4. Leave the search fields at the default, 5. Allow all dates and types of research results, 6. Click to choose scholarly (peer reviewed) journals, 7. Click to choose Full Text, 8. Click Search to begin the search. Other Databases are available from the NCU Library. They are found at the following web site: http://library.ncu.edu/dw_template.aspx?parent_id=8 The “Find a Resource” link, located on the University Library website is useful for locating a specific article that appears in a certain journal. A tutorial is available at http://www.ncu.edu/public_images/elrc/flash/ejournal_demo/ejournal_demo.htm There are a variety of government databases that are useful in searching for sources of information. They include: • Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) – http://www.eric/gov • the Library of Congress – http://www.loc.gov/index.html Assignment: Write a brief paper on a topic of your choice. Your requirements are: • Locate a minimum of 5 articles for your scholarly paper • Evaluate each of the 5 articles using your newly designed evaluation instrument • Demonstrate use of good grammar, sentence construction • Demonstrate clear and concise writing • Cite the resources in APA format • Submit an organized and scholarly written paper Length: 5-7 pages (app. 350 words per page) Your writing should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are required for the assignment. Responses should reflect scholarly-level writing standards and have no spelling, grammar, or syntax errors. Submit your document in the Course Work area below the Activity screen.
