Wherein the World is my stuff from?

Where in the world does your “stuff” come from? Choose 10 items in your house from the following categories. Print out a map of the world (you can find a blank map on the internet). Color-code each category, whatever color you want. Color in the Country each of your items was either made/assembled in.

1. Food

2. Health/beauty products

3. Clothing

4. Electronics

5. Transportation

6. Periodicals

7. Music/art supplies

8. Sports items

9. Tools

10. Jewelry

Try to select one item from each category (be creative). If you do not have any items from a category, you may choose two items from separate categories or you can create a new category (List it on your homework). (For example, if you do not have any sports items or jewelry, then you can choose an additional item from Food and an additional item from clothing. You cannot have three items from Food.)

· Print out a map of the world from the Internet.

· Make a legend for your categories on the map.

· Color-code your categories.

· If you have multiple items that come from the same Country, use different colored slashes to show the different categories.

· When you are finished coloring your map, write a one page essay on what you found out about the products that you purchase.

· Were you surprised by anything you found?

· Will this affect your purchasing habits in the future?

· If you felt that your purchasing habits reflect negative on you as a person, why is that? Remember Globalization.

· Other thoughts

Your essay should be typed. Using Times New Roman and 12 point font, doubled spaced. Please double side your essay if you write more than one page. You will lose 1 point for not double siding.
