Introductory Statement – Economics-History

This task should be done to get some background/knowledge/description of how it was “back in the day” in other words this task is about a little older time.

The task you have to do in other words your task is to take one of the areas below and write at least 3000-4000 letters of it. And remember try to write as comprehensible as possible, in other words if someone reads it he/she will understand it.

However examples of areas that you can take (REMEMBER TAKE ONLY ONE AREA) to describe about how it was that time is:

. The Greeks and others up to about 700 BC

. Roman era around 700 BC – 400 AD

. The Arabs in the Mediterranean Sea about 600 to 700 AD and possibly forward

. Constantinople around 1000 AD and forward

. Italy in the early middle Ages about 1,400 AD. For example: Venice, Florence and Genoa, (Marco Polo, Medici and others)

. Flanders 1300 – 1600. There are interesting market towns like Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and others.

. Portugal and Spain around 1400 – 1600 – Century

. Hanse/Hansa Hanseatic League 1300 – 1600’s

. Sweden trade under the late middle age, about until the 1500-Century

. East India Company

! Things that your area should contain about are down below:

· The Geographical area

· Approximate time

· Short about/on political system if possible, however it can be a little difficult to find about this at a longer period of time, of course but if you can it would be really great.

· Own production of goods

· Which countries or areas were trade with, and with what

· Did it grow up with a variety of “financial instruments or institutions” in the meantime? For example, there may be of payment, exchanges, banks or other?

· Possible could it be any connections to Sweden?

· Something special that characterizes the area or time?
