SITTTSL001A: Assessment

Introduction

This assessment requires you to access an online information system and complete a series of questions relating to its purpose and functionality.

Where applicable, write your answers in the space provided.

You may use additional sheets, however please ensure you securely attach your answers on any separate sheets, clearly identifying the question to which you are responding and numbering the pages in sequence. At the end of each answer, allow adequate space (at least eight (8) lines), for the teacher’s comments and feedback.

Part A of this assessment requires you to evaluate and complete short answer responses in relation to an online information system/database.

Part B of this assessment requires to you to complete an activity based on an online information system/database.

This is an ungraded unit. Your result is based on the evidence you provide to meet the criteria for competence as specified in the unit of competency. You will receive a result of Achieved Competency (AC) or Not yet Competent (NC).

Tasks/Questions

Part A: Evaluating an online information system

Access the Tourism Australia website –

. Tourism Australia is the Australian Government agency responsible for the international and domestic marketing of Australia as a destination for leisure and business travel. This site is an online information system/database which you have most likely used during your research for the unit,

Evaluate and report on this Tourism Australia automated information system/database, based on the following questions:

Question 1

Provide details of this online information system/database including URL, the authors and a short overview (including main objectives) of its purpose.

Question 2

Briefly describe the audience (i.e. general public, types of businesses, etc) who would most likely use this online information system/database.

Question 3

Identify the main features of this online information system/database that can be manipulated to access information. For example, what are the different search engines and functions of the system? Provide screen samples to illustrate your comments.
