The paper should be at least 1000 words in the body (meaning not including the tittle and the reference section) and have at least 5 sources, 3 of which should be from peer-reviewed journals. You should use APA formatting for your references both in the body and in the bibliography; however, I don’t need headings or an abstract, just for how the references are cited in the paper and references in the bibliography at the end.

I wish to study the impact of alcohol consumption on modifying mental processes, decision-making, and interpersonal behavior and its relationship to chronic illnesses and psychological issues. I plan to review existing research, identify underlying causes of abuse, and evaluate prevention and intervention strategies. I will address both the biological and environmental determinants, evaluating policy implications as well as cultural attitudes in attempting to offer an all-around response that mitigates the negative effects on society of alcohol abuse for future study

Title: The neuroscience of drug reward and addiction.

ABSTRACT: This article discusses how drugs, by their pharmacological action, modify brain reward circuits largely through dopamine signaling in the nucleus accumbens. It explains that chronic drug use causes neuroadaptations in regions like the prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and hippocampus that result in compulsive use. It also discusses how decreased dopamine response to use builds a pattern of increased drug-seeking behavior.

TITLE: The role of stress in drug addiction: An integrative review.

ABSTRACT: This review addresses the impact of stress on drug addiction by explaining how stress hormones impair key brain areas that are involved in memory, emotion, and impulse control. It emphasizes that stress in early life and acute stress both heighten vulnerability to addiction by aggravating craving and perpetuating relapse. Reduction interventions for stress are also discussed in the article as possible methods for curbing addictions.

TITLE: The molecular basis of drug addiction: Linking epigenetics to synaptic and circuit mechanisms.

ABSTRACT: This article discusses the molecular and epigenetic foundations of addiction, specifically how hyperdopaminergic signaling skews gene expression and brain circuitry. It describes how these epigenetic modifications lead to long-lasting changes of synaptic function and compel compulsive drug-seeking behavior. The authors suggest that they are treatable and can offer new therapeutic approaches.

social activity, its effects on mental processes, decision-making, and interpersonal behavior

indicate a complex relationship with chronic illnesses and psychological issues, highlighting

the need for a deeper understanding of its impact on health.”
