Empowering Parents and Teachers with Assessment Results
In this course you will explore a variety of assessment tools, but it is critical for you to keep in mind the end goal which is the information you learn through the assessment process. This information is based on the assessment results and can also be called data. Once assessments have been conducted, the results play a powerful role in supporting child development and learning. Understanding how to use assessment data when making decisions, by families and teachers, is paramount to children’s learning and development. Using assessment data allows educators to direct instruction and set goals to meet the students’ diverse needs. Sharing assessment data and learning goals with parents is another component of differentiating instruction. This way, parents can also support those learning goals at home.
