Arabian Food Supplies Consolidates IT Systems for
Improved Business Management and Planning

Arabian Food Suppliers (AFS) is one of Saudi Arabia’s most
diversified retail organizations. AFS is the exclusive distributor
for Master Foods, Reckitt Benckiser, California Garden, Pinar,
Noor Oil, and L’Oreal and sells their brands throughout the
Kingdom. The company also operates 91 supermarkets and
convenience stores and plays a major role in catering to the two
million visitors who travel to Saudi Arabia each year during the
Haj pilgrimage season.

Challenges

Replace mainframe system with automated, Web-enabled, tier
one enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for financial,
purchasing, and warehouse management
Implement a solution with multi-language capabilities to allow
employees to work in Arabic and English and ensure
compatibility between applications in either language

Solution

Installed several financial, purchasing, and ERP modules from
Oracle E-Business Suite, providing a complete solution for all
AFS’s needs
Commissioned Oracle Consulting Services to assist in
implementation, legacy data transfer, and software arabization
Used Oracle Financials to improve financial analysis and close
books in one day—a process that used to take several days
Managed Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar warehouses on a
single instance of Oracle Warehouse Management
Benefited from Oracle Warehouse Management’s automated,
optimized processes to complete putaway, picking, packing,
and shipping 25% faster and improve workforce productivity
Gained a real-time overview of inventory levels and eliminated
the need to close the warehouse for a manual stock count
Cut waste by monitoring sell-by and use-by dates of perishable
items and shipping stock on a first-expiration, first-out basis
Tracked movement of all foodstuffs through the warehouse,
minimizing lost items, improving order accuracy, and ensuring
faster deliveries to customers
Using Oracle Financial and Sales Analyzers to measure and
monitor performance, revise budgets and forecasts, and
improve strategic planning
