What You Need to Do

Think up a research question (think in the same ways we’ve discussed all quarter: open-ended, analytical, etc.)

· Research that question using whatever resources you like, whether World History in Context or the open Internet or a book. But remember, if you use the Internet and I think that your source(s) is not at the academic level or is suspect, that will hurt the essay’s grade.

· Finally, answer your own question using the research you have done.

· If you plagiarize (use someone else’s words without attribution), the essay will get an automatic zero. Remember to use quotation marks.

· Regarding the 3 -5 pages: Ultimately I’m looking for quality. So, if you can write a quality essay that answers your question in 3 pages, that’s great. If you need five pages, that’s good too. But don’t go beyond five pages. Also, if you write 5 mediocre pages, that’s no better than 3 mediocre pages.

· Because this is a history class, think about change over time when you’re dreaming up your topic.

· This is due on the last day of the quarter, IN CLASS, ON PAPER. I will not accept electronic submissions.
