Paper 2:

Due December 12, 2012

Four Pages, double spaced, standard margins

Pick any neighborhood/area in Indianapolis. Explain why you picked this particular neighborhood/area. Describe the physical, social, and economic changes that have occurred in this neighborhood/area in the last 50 years. Speculate on why the changes have occurred. Use the concepts we have studied in class (for example: transportation, migration, housing, education etc.) to evaluate and explain the changes. A strong paper will include demographic information of the area, and discuss the changes in socio-economic status in the residents. In addition, institutions in the area (businesses, schools, religious institutions, social service providers etc.) should be discussed and their impact examined. Additional sources could include interviews with current or former residents, personal observations, and graphics/pictures. However, graphics/pictures will not be considered part of the four pages.
