Explain interview methods and the areas of concern in conducting them. Give example for each
method.
Interview methods:
● The structured interview
o Most closely resembles the self-completion mail questionnaire.
● The semi-structured interview
o Allows a series of questions to be asked, but in no fixed order.
● The unstructured interview
o Commences with a series of topics for discussion instead of specific
questions.
Interview methods
● Areas of concern
o Poorly worded questions which cause confusions or misunderstanding
among interviewees.
o Memory problems among interviewees can make instant responses
unreliable.
o Questions might be asked in an inconsistent manner.
o Problems may arise in the recording and processing of responses.
o Non-response bias can arise.
