Find a journal article online about a company that recently added or dropped a product or service, or a company that decided to outsource. In the subject line of your post, include the name of the article that you read. Then, in your initial post, provide a link to the article and a summary followed by your reaction to the article. The summary should be approximately 250 words and the reaction should be approximately 150 words. The summary should describe the major points of the article, and the reaction should demonstrate your interpretation of the article and how you can apply that knowledge. Do not choose an article that one of your classmates has already posted. To participate in follow-up discussion, choose one of the articles that a classmate has posted and provide your own reaction to it.

This article composed by Mike Andronico ties together alternate options for the recently released Apple Vision Pro (AVP) headset. The article is formatted to give consumers a breakdown of other feasible options due to the sheer $3,500 price tag of the AVP. Through trial with other devices Andronico was able to piece together relevant information that would help consumers make a purchasing decisions using specifications such as display resolution, battery life, processor, price which is the main point of the article (Andronico, 2014). Throughout the comparisons, functions that would be forgone between the devices was also mentioned along with the quality of each device. A slight review of each of the virtual reality headset alternatives was included that listed some of the things capability wise that is offered by the headsets. All of the information provided in the breakdown was different from one headset to the other so that information is relevant. There was no irrelevant information that could be dismissed in the decision making process for that reason. The article concluded with a wrap up stating the purposes for each headset and how consumers can get the best experience from each one depending on what the headset would be used for.
This article was unique for this topic because it provided information that could be used to make a decision. As I learned about in this section a company should take all alternatives using the relevant information that they have to make decisions. With Apple, the decision to make the headset was just one decision. Other decisions had to be made such as the hardware to be used for production and even training associates to handle and be able to inform customers about the headset. Another decision was who would the target audience be, and that is how they tailored it and established the price point of $3,500. At the managerial level these decisions are important because they impact the cost of making the decision. Analyzing relevant information between alternatives, understanding the relevant costs, and evaluating qualitative issues were the biggest takeaways for me at the managerial level that I gained from this exercise.
