Personal Finance HW3

Create a personal balance sheet statement for your life as of right now using the Microsoft Excel
template that I provide on Mycourses.SIU.edu.
GUIDELINES:
Use bank statements, investment account statements, etc. to find the value of your various
checking, savings, and investment accounts (if applicable).
The majority of the class will not have very many current assets besides Cash on Hand and
Savings/Checking accounts.
If you OWN a residence, please list the current value using the most recent appraisal or
Zillow.com
If you OWN a car(s), use Kelley Blue Book to find the value. (kbb.com)
Please use your best judgement for Other assets.
Use Credit Card statements to find credit card balances.
FOR DEBTS, DO NOT PUT IN EXPENSES!!! Only put in amounts in amounts that you are past
due. For example, do not put in your current month rent as a liability. However, if you still have
not paid for several month’s past rent, then it would be a liability. Additionally, if you have not
paid your cell phone bill for 2 or more months, then the past due amount should be a liability.
